Description
A delicious and creamy dessert featuring bananas, caramel, and a crunchy crust.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pie crust (pre-made or homemade)
- 2 medium bananas
- 1 cup dulce de leche or caramel sauce
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp instant coffee (optional)
- 1/4 cup crushed graham crackers or digestive biscuits
- Caramel fudge pieces for topping (optional)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- A pinch of salt
Instructions
- Prepare the Crust: If making from scratch, roll out your pie crust and fit it into a tart pan. Blind bake it according to your recipe or package instructions, then let it cool completely.
- Make the Filling: Spread the dulce de leche or caramel sauce evenly over the cooled pie crust. Ensure a smooth, level surface.
- Slice the Bananas: Peel and slice the bananas into even, round pieces. Arrange them over the caramel layer in a single, overlapping layer.
- Whip the Cream: In a bowl, combine heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, and instant coffee (if using). Whip until soft peaks form. Gently spread the whipped cream over the banana layer, using a spatula to create a smooth top.
- Finish with Toppings: Sprinkle the crushed graham crackers or digestive biscuits over the whipped cream. Add caramel fudge pieces if desired for extra texture and flavor.
Notes
- Crust Variations: You can use a crust made from crushed graham crackers, butter, and sugar as an alternative to the pastry crust.
- Caramel Sauce: For a deeper flavor, make your caramel sauce at home using sugar, butter, and cream. This adds a richer taste to the tart.
- Banana Freshness: To prevent bananas from browning, you can lightly brush them with lemon juice before placing them in the tart.
- Texture Variety: Add a handful of chopped nuts such as pecans or walnuts on top for an extra crunch.
