- 1 large bread bowl (sourdough or Italian round loaf)
- 1 lb (450g) shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- Lemon wedges for serving
Instructions
- Prepare the Bread Bowl:
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice the top off the bread loaf and hollow out the inside, leaving a thick enough shell to hold the sauce. Set aside. - Cook the Shrimp:
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the shrimp and season with salt and pepper. Cook until the shrimp turns pink, about 3-4 minutes. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside. - Prepare the Creamy Garlic Sauce:
In the same skillet, melt butter and add minced garlic. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant. Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a simmer. Stir in the Parmesan cheese until melted and the sauce is creamy. Add red pepper flakes if using. Return the shrimp to the skillet and coat in the sauce. Simmer for another 2-3 minutes. - Assemble the Bread Bowl:
Spoon the creamy shrimp mixture into the prepared bread bowl. Place the filled bread bowl on a baking sheet and bake for about 10 minutes until the edges of the bread are crispy. - Garnish and Serve:
Remove from the oven and sprinkle with chopped parsley. Serve immediately with lemon wedges on the side.
