Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare Dry Ingredients: In a small bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until creamy.
  4. Add Eggs: Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  5. Combine Mixtures: Gradually beat in the flour mixture until smooth.
  6. Add Chocolate Chips and Candy: Stir in the semi-sweet chocolate chips and half of the festive candy-coated chocolates. If using, fold in the chopped nuts.
  7. Shape Cookies: Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets. Press a few of the remaining candy-coated chocolates on top of each cookie for decoration.
  8. Bake: Bake each batch for about 9-11 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
  9. Cool: Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
