Ingredients
Scale
- 1 1/2 pounds ground beef or a mix of beef and pork
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 2 tablespoons fresh rosemary, chopped
- 2 tablespoons fresh thyme, chopped
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Mix Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine ground meat, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, milk, egg, minced garlic, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Shape the Loaf: Transfer the mixture onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Shape it into a loaf, smoothing out the surface.
- Prepare Herb Crust: In a small bowl, mix the fresh parsley, rosemary, thyme, and olive oil. Pat this mixture over the top and sides of the meatloaf.
- Glaze the Loaf: In a separate bowl, combine ketchup and Worcestershire sauce. Spread this glaze over the top of the herb layer.
- Bake: Place the meatloaf in the preheated oven and bake for about 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
- Rest and Serve: Remove from the oven and let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing. This helps in retaining its juices.
Notes
- For added moisture, substitute a portion of the ground meat with ground turkey or pork.
- Incorporate sautéed onions or mushrooms into the meat mixture for extra flavor.
- Use a meat thermometer to ensure perfect doneness.
- Serve with roasted vegetables or mashed potatoes for a complete meal.
