Description
A delicious layered banana pudding trifle with vanilla pudding, whipped cream, and crushed vanilla wafers.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 large ripe bananas, sliced
- 2 cups vanilla pudding
- 2 cups whipped cream
- 1 package vanilla wafers or graham crackers, crushed
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice (to prevent banana slices from browning)
Instructions
- Prepare the Pudding: If using instant pudding mix, prepare according to package instructions and let it chill until set.
- Prepare the Bananas: Slice the bananas and sprinkle with lemon juice to prevent browning. Set aside.
- Whip the Cream: If using heavy cream, whip with vanilla extract until soft peaks form. If using pre-made whipped cream, mix in the vanilla extract gently.
- Crush the Vanilla Wafers: Place the wafers or graham crackers in a sealed bag and crush them using a rolling pin until you have coarse crumbs.
- Assemble the Trifle: In a large trifle dish or glass bowl, start by layering a third of the crushed wafers. Add a layer of vanilla pudding, spreading it evenly. Follow with a layer of banana slices. Add a layer of whipped cream, smoothing it out with a spatula. Repeat the layers two more times, finishing with whipped cream on top. Garnish with additional banana slices and chopped nuts if desired.
- Chill: Cover the trifle with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, you can add a splash of banana liqueur to the pudding.
- To add a twist, try using chocolate pudding instead of vanilla for a chocolate-banana flavor.
- For extra texture, consider adding a layer of crushed peanuts or chocolate chips.
