Description

A delicious tropical dessert featuring chewy tapioca pearls and fresh mango puree, complemented by a creamy coconut milk base.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup small tapioca pearls (sago)
  • 3 large ripe mangoes, peeled and diced
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • ½ cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 12 tablespoons sugar (optional, adjust to taste)
  • 1 cup water (for blending mango)
  • Extra mango cubes for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the sago pearls in a large pot of water to a boil. Add the tapioca pearls and stir gently so they do not stick together. As they cook, you will notice them turning translucent with a tiny white dot in the center. This usually takes about 10–15 minutes. Stir occasionally and keep the heat at a gentle boil.
  2. Once most of the pearls are translucent, turn off the heat and cover the pot. Let them sit for a few more minutes until fully clear. Drain and rinse under cold running water to remove excess starch. This step gives you that perfect chewy texture that makes Mango Sago with Coconut Milk so satisfying.
  3. Prepare the mango puree by adding two of the diced mangoes into a blender. Add about 1 cup of water and blend until smooth and creamy. The color should be bright and vibrant, almost glowing.
  4. Dice the remaining mango into small cubes for texture and garnish.
  5. In a large bowl, combine the mango puree, coconut milk, evaporated milk, and sweetened condensed milk. Stir well. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed by adding a bit of sugar. The mixture should be silky, fragrant, and lightly sweet with a tropical aroma.
  6. Combine everything by adding the drained sago pearls and mango cubes into the creamy mango mixture. Stir gently until evenly distributed.
  7. Chill before serving for at least 1–2 hours. Mango Sago with Coconut Milk tastes best when thoroughly chilled. The flavors deepen, and the texture becomes even more luscious.
  8. Serve in small bowls or glasses, topped with extra mango cubes if desired.

Notes

  • This dessert is best served chilled for the best flavor experience.
  • For a vegan version, substitute the evaporated milk and sweetened condensed milk with plant-based alternatives.
