Ingredients
Scale
- 6 medium-sized apples
- 6 wooden sticks
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup light corn syrup
- 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Gel food coloring (pink, blue, purple, and green)
- Edible glitter or luster dust
Instructions
- Prepare the Apples:
- Wash and thoroughly dry the apples.
- Insert a wooden stick into the top of each apple and set aside.
- Cook the Candy Mixture:
- In a saucepan, combine the sugar, water, corn syrup, and sweetened condensed milk.
- Stir over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.
- Attach a candy thermometer to the side of the pan.
- Boil the mixture without stirring until it reaches 302°F (hard crack stage).
- Add Vanilla and Divide:
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
- Divide the mixture equally into four heatproof bowls.
- Color the Mixture:
- Add a different color of gel food coloring to each bowl, stirring until the colors are well blended.
- Dip the Apples:
- Submerge each apple into the colored candy mixtures, one color at a time, to create a marble effect.
- Allow excess to drip off, then place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper to cool.
- Decorate:
- While the candy is still slightly sticky, sprinkle with edible glitter or luster dust for a galaxy effect.
Notes
- Ensure the apples are completely dry before dipping to help the candy adhere better.
- Work quickly when dipping and swirling the colors as the candy will harden fast.
- Store candy apples in a cool, dry place. Avoid humid areas to keep them crisp.
