Description

Enjoy your out-of-this-world treat!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 medium-sized apples
  • 6 wooden sticks
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Gel food coloring (pink, blue, purple, and green)
  • Edible glitter or luster dust

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Apples:
    • Wash and thoroughly dry the apples.
    • Insert a wooden stick into the top of each apple and set aside.
  2. Cook the Candy Mixture:
    • In a saucepan, combine the sugar, water, corn syrup, and sweetened condensed milk.
    • Stir over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.
    • Attach a candy thermometer to the side of the pan.
    • Boil the mixture without stirring until it reaches 302°F (hard crack stage).
  3. Add Vanilla and Divide:
    • Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
    • Divide the mixture equally into four heatproof bowls.
  4. Color the Mixture:
    • Add a different color of gel food coloring to each bowl, stirring until the colors are well blended.
  5. Dip the Apples:
    • Submerge each apple into the colored candy mixtures, one color at a time, to create a marble effect.
    • Allow excess to drip off, then place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper to cool.
  6. Decorate:
    • While the candy is still slightly sticky, sprinkle with edible glitter or luster dust for a galaxy effect.

Notes

  • Ensure the apples are completely dry before dipping to help the candy adhere better.
  • Work quickly when dipping and swirling the colors as the candy will harden fast.
  • Store candy apples in a cool, dry place. Avoid humid areas to keep them crisp.
