Description

A delicious dessert combining dark and white chocolate with a hint of peppermint and festive candy canes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups dark chocolate chips
  • 2 cups white chocolate chips
  • 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 1/2 cup crushed candy canes
  • a few drops red food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Melt Dark Chocolate: Place dark chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until smooth. Stir in 1/4 teaspoon of peppermint extract.
  2. Spread Dark Chocolate: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Pour and spread the melted dark chocolate evenly.
  3. Chill: Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for about 20 minutes or until the chocolate is firm.
  4. Melt White Chocolate: While the dark chocolate is chilling, melt the white chocolate in the same manner as the dark chocolate. Stir in the remaining 1/4 teaspoon of peppermint extract.
  5. Add Color (Optional): If desired, add a few drops of red food coloring to the white chocolate and swirl gently for a marbled effect.
  6. Spread White Chocolate: Once the dark chocolate is firm, pour the white chocolate over it and spread evenly.
  7. Add Candy Canes: Sprinkle crushed candy canes over the top, pressing lightly to adhere.
  8. Final Chill: Return the baking sheet to the refrigerator for another 20-30 minutes until fully set.
  9. Break into Pieces: Once set, remove from the refrigerator and break into pieces.

Notes

  • Ensure the chocolate layers are solidified before adding the next to prevent mixing.
  • For a smooth surface, use an offset spatula to spread the chocolate.
  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator to keep the bark fresh.
