Description
This roasted whole chicken is seasoned to perfection, ensuring a crispy skin and juicy meat, making it a delightful centerpiece for any meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 whole chicken (3–4 pounds), cleaned and patted dry
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried)
- 1 whole lemon, quartered
- 4 cloves garlic, crushed
- Vegetables for roasting (optional), such as potatoes, carrots, and onions
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) to ensure a crispy skin.
- Place the cleaned chicken on a roasting pan or a suitable oven-safe dish. Pat it dry with paper towels for that perfect crisp.
- Rub olive oil all over the chicken, making sure to cover it well. Next, sprinkle salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and chopped rosemary evenly across the skin.
- Stuff the cavity of the chicken with the quartered lemon and crushed garlic cloves to infuse the meat with delicious flavor as it cooks.
- Place the chicken in the preheated oven and roast for about 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C) when checked at the thickest part of the thigh.
- Once done, remove the chicken from the oven and let it rest for about 15 minutes before carving to allow the juices to redistribute for super succulent meat.
Notes
- This chicken pairs well with roasted vegetables like potatoes and carrots.
- For added flavor, marinate the chicken overnight with the spices.
