Pizza Bake with Turkey Italian Sausage

Description

A delicious and hearty pizza bake made with turkey Italian sausage, layers of Folios cheese wraps, and topped with pepperoni and mozzarella.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tsp. olive oil
  • 1 pkg. (19 oz.) turkey Italian sausage
  • 1 jar (13 oz.) Rao’s Pizza Sauce
  • 5 Folios Parmesan Cheese Wraps
  • 2 cups grated Mozzarella Cheese
  • 42 slices Hormel 25% reduced fat pepperoni
  • 1 tsp. dried oregano, divided

Instructions

  1. Heat the oven to 425F/220C. Spray a 9″ X 13″ baking dish with olive oil or non-stick spray.
  2. Heat olive oil in a non-stick frying pan and cook the Italian sausage until it’s nicely browned. Use a potato masher to break it apart.
  3. Add the Rao’s Pizza Sauce or any low-sugar pizza sauce and simmer about 5 minutes, until the sauce has slightly thickened and sausage is flavored with the sauce.
  4. Cut 5 Folios Cheese Wraps in half, and then arrange them with the straight side along the edge of the baking dish, placing one cut piece covering the middle.
  5. Spread half the sausage/sauce mixture over the Folios.
  6. Top that with 1 cup grated Mozzarella cheese.
  7. Top the cheese with 21 pieces of pepperoni and a generous pinch of dried Greek oregano.
  8. Make another layer of Folios, followed by sausage/sauce mixture, cheese, pepperoni, and Greek oregano.
  9. Bake for about 20 minutes, or until cheese is melted and the Pizza Bake is bubbling hot and nicely browned.
  10. Serve the Pizza Bake hot and enjoy!

Notes

  • Serve this dish with a side salad for a complete meal.
  • For a lower carb option, substitute Folios with low-carb tortillas.
