Description
A delicious and quick stir-fry featuring tender beef sirloin and colorful bell peppers, perfect for a weeknight dinner.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon black pepper, freshly ground
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- Salt to taste
- Fresh cilantro for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Beef: In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, and black pepper. Add the thinly sliced beef to the bowl, mixing well to coat. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
- Cook the Vegetables: Heat half of the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add garlic and stir-fry until fragrant. Add the sliced onions and stir-fry until they begin to soften. Add the red and green bell peppers, and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until tender-crisp. Remove the vegetables from the skillet and set aside.
- Cook the Beef: In the same skillet, add the remaining oil. Add the marinated beef slices in a single layer and sear on one side until browned. Turn the beef slices and sear the other side, ensuring they are cooked through.
- Combine and Season: Return the cooked vegetables to the skillet with the beef. Add sugar and adjust salt to taste. Stir well to combine the flavors. Cook for another 1-2 minutes until everything is well blended.
- Serve: Transfer the stir-fry to a serving plate. Garnish with fresh cilantro if desired. Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add a splash of sesame oil before serving.
- To enhance the color and freshness, add chopped green onions along with cilantro.
- Adjust the spice level by adding red chili flakes or Szechuan peppercorns if desired.
- Ensure to cut the beef thinly for quicker cooking and better absorption of flavors.
