Description

A delicious and quick stir-fry featuring tender beef sirloin and colorful bell peppers, perfect for a weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper, freshly ground
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Beef: In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, and black pepper. Add the thinly sliced beef to the bowl, mixing well to coat. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  2. Cook the Vegetables: Heat half of the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add garlic and stir-fry until fragrant. Add the sliced onions and stir-fry until they begin to soften. Add the red and green bell peppers, and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until tender-crisp. Remove the vegetables from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Cook the Beef: In the same skillet, add the remaining oil. Add the marinated beef slices in a single layer and sear on one side until browned. Turn the beef slices and sear the other side, ensuring they are cooked through.
  4. Combine and Season: Return the cooked vegetables to the skillet with the beef. Add sugar and adjust salt to taste. Stir well to combine the flavors. Cook for another 1-2 minutes until everything is well blended.
  5. Serve: Transfer the stir-fry to a serving plate. Garnish with fresh cilantro if desired. Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a splash of sesame oil before serving.
  • To enhance the color and freshness, add chopped green onions along with cilantro.
  • Adjust the spice level by adding red chili flakes or Szechuan peppercorns if desired.
  • Ensure to cut the beef thinly for quicker cooking and better absorption of flavors.
