Description
Soft and chewy homemade pretzel bites that are perfect for snacking.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
- 1 1/2 cups warm water (110°F)
- 1/4 cup baking soda
- 1 teaspoon coarse sea salt (plus more for sprinkling)
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)
Instructions
- Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, combine warm water and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until bubbly. Stir in flour and salt until a dough forms.
- Knead: Transfer dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let rise in a warm area for about an hour or until doubled in size.
- Shape Bites: Punch down the dough, divide into small portions, roll into ropes, and cut into bite-sized pieces.
- Boil: In a pot, bring water mixed with baking soda to a gentle boil. Boil pretzel bites for 30 seconds each, then remove with a slotted spoon.
- Bake: Preheat oven to 450°F. Place boiled bites on parchment-lined sheets, brush with melted butter, sprinkle with salt, and bake for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
Notes
- For a golden color, ensure that the pretzel bites are boiled for the full 30 seconds.
- You can sprinkle additional coarse sea salt on top before baking for extra flavor.
