Description

Enjoy your delicious, crispy bacon cheese roll-ups!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 sheets phyllo dough
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup cooked crispy bacon, crumbled
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped green onions
  • 1 fresh jalapeño, sliced thinly (optional, for heat)
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare Phyllo Dough: Lay out the phyllo sheets, keeping them covered with a damp towel to prevent drying out. Take one sheet and brush it lightly with melted butter. Layer another sheet on top and repeat until all sheets are stacked.
  3. Add Filling: Sprinkle an even layer of shredded mozzarella, crispy bacon, and chopped green onions over the top phyllo sheet. Add jalapeño slices if desired. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Roll and Seal: Starting from one end, carefully roll the phyllo sheets into a tight log. Brush the seam with melted butter to seal it and also the top of the roll for crispiness.
  5. Cut and Bake: Slice the roll into 2-inch pieces and place them onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.

Notes

  • Ensure Phyllo Freshness: Work quickly to prevent the phyllo sheets from drying out. Cover unused sheets with a damp cloth.
  • Customize the Filling: Add a variety of fillings like sautéed mushrooms, spinach, or a different cheese blend for unique flavors.
  • Serve Immediately: These roll-ups are best enjoyed hot for maximum crispiness.
  • Watch the Oven: Keep an eye on the baking time as ovens may vary, and phyllo can brown quickly.
